What Is a Timber Frame?

Timber framing is Carolina Timberworks’ passion and specialty. We work with architects and general contractors (and occasionally the right homeowner) across North Carolina and the United States to provide architectural timber framing for various residential and commercial projects. Timber framing is a traditional method of building with heavy timbers that has been continuously in use for almost two thousand years. To be candid, we’re drawn to and love the timber frame. It’s the best, longest-lasting, and most beautiful way to build we know of.  

Trust requires a relationship.

We help builders and architects who are frustrated working with timber frame subcontractors who are cost-efficient but a pain to deal with; who have been burned by 1 or 2 page bids that are not crystal clear about what is included (and what isn’t); and who are forced to deal with subs who get behind or don’t take responsibility for their mistakes.
